He said the invitation was received at a meeting with the Us trade representative to Maldives.

The meeting also discussed the introduction of online payment systems in Maldives, a presidential promise of President Dr. Muizzu.

In addition, the meeting discussed the bringing of US PayPal to Maldives and a Maldivian  trade delegation will visit the United States to discuss the bringing of PayPal with US government officials, he said.

"And so far, a trade delegation has certainly not been given the opportunity to go to the United States. But now president Dr.muizzu's  government has got  that opportunity." Minister said.

The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade said the delegation will visit the United States later this year, but no specific date has been announced.

The introduction of online payment systems such as PayPal is one of President Dr. Muizzu's presidential promises. In the process of fulfilling this promise, the Cabinet meeting held on the 6th of this month decided to remove the barriers to accessing money through the online payment platform.
