Bank of Maldives has announced a special offer for students using its popular Student Debit Card, with discounts of up to 10% available across a variety of merchants when payments are made via POS terminals.

Students can enjoy these discounts at selected bookstores, stationery shops, and restaurants.

Participating outlets include Asrafee Bookshop, Crafty World, Doodle Craft and Stationery, Procure Plus, Personal Computers, as well as popular dining spots like Chicking, Baker’s Basket, and Manhattan Fish Market, among others.

Designed to encourage financial responsibility among youth, the BML Student Card helps children learn essential money management skills such as budgeting and cost-saving.

The card is available in two designs tailored for students aged 7-12 and 13-18 years old.

Additionally, BML offers an annual rebate of 0.5% on total spending made through the card, which is credited directly to the student’s savings account.

This initiative provides an added incentive for responsible spending habits.

The Student Debit Card is issued as a Visa card with no annual fees and can be used for transactions both locally and internationally.

There is a monthly foreign transaction cap of USD 100, with overseas students eligible for a higher limit of USD 1,200 per month upon providing the necessary documentation.

According to BML, parents can conveniently manage their child’s card through the BML Mobile Banking app.

Features include the ability to fund the card, monitor spending, freeze or unfreeze the card, block it if necessary, and change the PIN.

Applications for the BML Student Card can be made via the bank’s mobile banking app, offering a seamless process for parents seeking to equip their children with essential financial tools under guided supervision.
