China decides to ease its debt from Maldives

China has decided to ease the repayment of loans to Maldives. President Dr.Mohamed Muizzu said that a Chinese technical team is scheduled to arrive in Maldives to start studies on the concessions.

Speaking at the airport after his first visit to China, President Dr. Muizzu said China has decided to ease its loans to Maldives. The President said he had directly asked Chinese President Xi Jinping to provide facilities for Maldives in repaying its debt.

The President said a team of Chinese Finance Ministry and financial experts are scheduled to visit Maldives to discuss the possibility of arranging a grace period instead of paying it  in the next five years.
