MDP meets with MRM for coalition discussions
The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) have held talks with the Maldives Reform Movement (MRM), led by former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, ahead of the upcoming second round of the presidential election scheduled for this month's 30th.
Announcing on Twitter that he had discussed his ideas for economic, social, and political transformation with the MDP, MRM President Ahmed Faris Maumoon, who suffered a heavy loss in the first round of the presidential election on Saturday after receiving 2,979 votes, said that he had faced a defeat in that round.
The MRM's desire to create a coalition has not yet been decided upon in full. It's noteworthy that Faris sat out of both of these meetings.
