BML aids opening of a SEN classroom at Veymandoo School
A new Special Educational Needs (SEN) classroom has been officially opened at Thaa Atoll Veymandoo School, with support from the Bank of Maldives (BML) Community Fund.
The project was implemented by Veymandoo Zuvaanunge Gulhun, a local youth association, was selected under last year’s BML Community Fund.
The classroom has been developed as a sensory and vocational learning space designed to enhance students’ abilities, encourage social interaction, and meet their diverse educational needs.
In addition to providing tailored educational support, the school plans to expand classroom services to include life skills training, such as cooking and sewing, helping students become more independent and better prepared for society.
The initiative reflects the association’s goal of creating a dedicated space for children with special learning needs to engage in structured learning activities.
Ahmed Shaugat, the President of the Veymandoo Zuvaanunge Gulhun expressed gratitude to the school, the association, and the contractor for their cooperation and swift completion of the project.
This marks the third SEN classroom supported by BML this year, following similar projects at S’alaah’udhdheen School and Hiriya School, which together have benefited more than 200 students.
Over the past five years, BML has strengthened education in the Maldives by donating equipment to 40 schools nationwide, further expanding opportunities for inclusive and accessible learning.
