China is an important partner for the Maldives: President Solih

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said that China is an important partner for the Maldives in achieving new heights.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has sent greetings and good wishes to President Xi Jinping and Premier of the State Council of China Li Keqiang on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and China.

In his message to President Xi Jinping, President Yameen noted that the friendly relations between the Maldives and China have a long history. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih stated that over the past twenty years, China has made an enormous contribution to the social, cultural and economic development of the Maldives.

In this regard, the President highlighted the five agreements signed between the Maldives and China earlier this year. The President also expressed his confidence that the agreements would further strengthen the relations between The Maldives and China in the future.

In a separate message to The Premier of the State Council of China, Li Keqiang, President Solih noted that china's historical relations, sovereignty equality and mutual respect for each other's sovereignty were the foundation of our relations, and that china's relations with the Maldives have remained on that basis for the past 50 years.

In his message, president Solih noted that China is an important partner of the Maldives in achieving new heights of social development and economic development. President Solih in a separate message stated that President Xi Jinping and Premier of the State Council of China Li Keqiang, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih expressed his belief that the close cooperation between the Maldives and China will further strengthen the close friendly relations between the two countries.
