Adam Shameem has been appointed Chief Judicial Administrator of the Department of Judicial Administration (DJA) following a selection process conducted by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

The JSC said Shameem, from Malaaz, Dhaalu Atoll Maaenboodhoo, received the highest score during interviews among candidates who met the requirements for the position.

His appointment was based on recommendations submitted by the interview panel.

Shameem is a practicing lawyer and defense counsel with extensive experience in the Maldivian legal sector.

He has represented clients in courts across the country during his legal career.

The position became vacant following the resignation of former Chief Judicial Administrator Amjad Mustafa.

The JSC opened applications for the post on July 8 and previously announced that 10 legal professionals had submitted applications.

The Chief Judicial Administrator oversees the administrative functions of the DJA, which supports the operation and coordination of the country's judicial system.

Shameem's appointment follows the completion of the commission's recruitment and evaluation process.
