Dhiraagu has partnered with the SEED Initiative to promote ocean literacy and strengthen awareness of marine ecosystems among children and young people in the Maldives.

The SEED Initiative, which stands for Science, Explore, Act, and Discover, focuses on environmental education and providing practical learning experiences through field-based activities.

According to Dhiraagu, the organization is actively involved in marine conservation initiatives, including citizen science and environmental data collection, public awareness programs, and efforts to promote the protection and long-term sustainability of natural ecosystems.

Under the partnership, Dhiraagu will provide connectivity support for the SEED Initiative's Urban Hub in Hulhumalé and assist with activities conducted across different islands.

The collaboration also aims to encourage greater community awareness of marine conservation and environmental protection.

The partnership will support the SEED Initiative's Eco Guardian program, which will conduct educational sessions and hands-on marine activities in Hulhumalé, K. Kaashidhoo, and B. Goidhoo.

The activities will be guided by marine biologists and other specialists, giving participants opportunities to learn about marine ecosystems and the importance of protecting key natural habitats.

The program will also cover topics including seagrass meadows, mangrove ecosystems, sustainable environmental practices, and ecosystem restoration.

Dhiraagu said increasing awareness of the marine environment is particularly important for the Maldives, where the ocean plays a central role in the country's economy, communities, livelihoods, and future.

By combining environmental education with practical experiences, the initiative aims to help younger generations develop a stronger understanding of and connection to the marine environment.

The partnership forms part of Dhiraagu's broader efforts to support environmental conservation and encourage communities to take an active role in protecting the Maldives' natural surroundings.
