Maldives’ newly appointed Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Thoriq Ibrahim, has pledged to further strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries.

Ambassador Thoriq formally began his diplomatic tenure after presenting his Letter of Credence to UAE President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, during a ceremony held at Qasr Al Watan.

Sheikh Mohamed welcomed the Maldivian envoy and congratulated him on the commencement of his diplomatic mission, wishing him success in his new role.

During the meeting, Ambassador Thoriq conveyed greetings and best wishes from President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, the Maldivian government and the people of Maldives to the UAE President, government and people.

He also reaffirmed his commitment to further strengthening the longstanding friendship and close cooperation between the Maldives and the UAE throughout his tenure.

The Maldives and UAE established diplomatic relations on March 15, 1978. Thoriq Ibrahim is the seventh Maldivian ambassador to be accredited to the UAE.

The two countries have maintained longstanding diplomatic ties, with cooperation extending across various areas of mutual interest.
