President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has said development projects are advancing across the Maldives, with the largest number expected to be completed in 2027.

Speaking in the sixth episode of The Pulse podcast, President Dr. Muizzu said projects are progressing across the country, with some scheduled for completion this year and others continuing into 2028.

Addressing concerns over delays, the president said economic difficulties that had affected implementation have been overcome and that work on delayed projects is expected to resume more rapidly.

President Dr. Muizzu said the government is following a long-term development strategy while ensuring that essential services are provided to citizens at consistent standards across all islands.

He highlighted a nationwide program to construct modern buildings for island councils, saying the initiative could provide new offices for around 100 islands within the next two years, with the broader project expected to be substantially completed by mid-2027.

Transport infrastructure was also highlighted, with President Dr. Muizzu identifying airport development as a major contributor to both economic activity and social connectivity.

He also said the Thilamalé Bridge project in the Malé region is now advancing faster and is expected to be completed soon.

The President also addressed development plans for Addu City, the country's second-largest population center.

President Dr. Muizzu identified the relocation of Malé's port to Thilafushi as the largest project currently being undertaken by his administration.

He said the project is scheduled for completion by November 11, 2027.

The government expects development activity to remain spread across multiple sectors and regions, with major infrastructure projects forming a central part of its medium- and long-term development plans.
