President Dr. Muizzu pledges priority action on concerns of parents of children with autism
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu held discussions at the President’s Office with parents from the Maldives Autism Support and Neuro-Inclusion Unity, focusing on challenges facing children with autism and other disabilities.
Parents highlighted critical issues in education and wellbeing, calling for stronger inclusive education frameworks in schools, expanded vocational training programs, and better access to essential therapeutic services.
Key proposals included integrating Quran teaching for students with disabilities into school curricula, enhancing current therapy services, and establishing a specialized government center for integrated therapy, education, and vocational skills training.
They also urged a review of the Disability Council’s composition.
President Dr. Muizzu assured the group that their concerns and recommendations would receive high priority, reaffirming his commitment to delivering timely and effective solutions.
