Opposition expresses concern over President Yameen's trial being delayed
Supporters of Former President Yameen have gathered in front of the court regarding the trial set today against President Yameen.
President Yameen's supporters along with the senior leadership have gathered near the court waiting for the verdict. However, the trial seems to have not started despite the court's confirmation to commence the trial sharp 9 am.
The opposition has claimed that judges are oppressed and called on the courts to start the trial immediately without putting pressure on the judges.
Former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom is set to face trial at the Criminal Court on charges of bribery and money laundering. Former President Yameen will be prohibited from running in the presidential election if a criminal court sentences him to prison until the judgment is overturned by a higher court.
