Thilamale’ bridge hits 40% completion milestone
The Thilamale’ Bridge project has reached a significant milestone with 40.47% of the construction now completed, according to the Ministry's State Minister Mohammed Thoaam Ibrahim.
This marks a notable increase from the 29% completion reported in November of the previous year, reflecting accelerated progress in recent months despite earlier delays under the previous administration.
Under the previous government, the project experienced delays, but recent efforts have accelerated progress.
Key Details of Thilamale’ Bridge:
- Price: $500 million (MVR 6.2 billion).
- $100 million (MVR 1.55 billion) is India's free aid.
Experts from Turkey, Germany and Australia are also involved in the bridge.
The Thilamale’ Bridge project is being implemented with a loan from Exim Bank of India.
The work is being carried out by India's Afcons Infrastructure Company.
The Construction Ministry had earlier said the bridge would be completed by September 2026.
