President Dr Muizzu conveys condolences to family of late former public safety minister

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has expressed condolences to the family of the late Abdul Hannan Haleem ('Dhoshi Meyna Kilegefaanu'), former Public Safety Minister, who passed away on Wednesday.

In a post on social media platform X, President Muizzu recognized Haleem's tenure as Public Safety Minister during the first ten years of the second Republic of the Maldives.

He also highlighted Haleem's distinguished political career, including serving as a Member of Parliament during the first parliament of the second Republic.

The President described Haleem's passing as a moment of great sorrow for the nation and extended prayers for patience to Haleem's family.

He also prayed for the Almighty to pardon any shortcomings of the late Minister and grant him Jannah (Paradise).

The late former minister, aged 87, passed away at Tree Top Hospital on Wednesday.

He was the last surviving member of both the 1968 government's cabinet and those who were granted the 'Sumuhwul Ameer Kilege' title.

Additionally, he was a descendant of the Huravee and Dhiyamigili royal bloodline.
