Maldives Breaks Guinness Record with Spectacular Fireworks at New Airport Terminal Launch
The Maldives has officially broken a Guinness World Record with a breathtaking fireworks show held to inaugurate the new international passenger terminal at Velana International Airport (VIA).
The record-breaking spectacle, recognised by Guinness World Records during a special ceremony, marked the most locations to simultaneously launch synchronised fireworks.
The display lit up the skies from nine separate sites across Male’, Hulhumale’, and Hulhule’, surpassing the previous record of five locations.
The Guinness World Records certificate was awarded to the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) during a welcoming ceremony for the first flight arriving at the new terminal.
To ensure compliance with Guinness guidelines, 32 official witnesses were present to validate the achievement.
The evening’s celebration also featured a commemorative segment on the historical development of VIA, followed by a captivating theatrical performance showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Maldives.
A coordinated drone display highlighted the nation’s independence and the airport’s evolution, culminating in the record-setting fireworks show.
