Aasandha Company Ltd announced today that arrangements are being made to facilitate medical treatment in Thailand and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) under the national health insurance scheme, Aasandha.

This initiative follows the directive of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

During a press conference held by the Ministry of Social and Family Development, CEO of Aasandha today, Aminath Zeeniya, provided further details on the progress of these arrangements.

Zeeniya stated that, in line with President Dr Muizzu's policy, Aasandha is exploring new avenues for medical services beyond the traditional reliance on India and Sri Lanka.

Currently, we send patients to India and Sri Lanka for medical treatment. However, the President's vision is to expand Aasandha to include countries that Maldivians frequently travel to for better medical facilities

Zeeniya stated

President Dr Muizzu has previously expressed his intention to diversify the locations where Maldivians can access free healthcare under the government's sponsorship.

During a press briefing at the airport following his state visit to China, he emphasized that the aim is not to restrict medical services to facilities in a specific region.

This initiative reflects the government's commitment to providing comprehensive healthcare solutions and improving the overall quality of medical services available to Maldivians.

The expansion to include the UAE and Thailand is a step towards ensuring that patients have access to the best possible care and facilities.
