China-Maldives relationship is an example for other countries: Ambassador Wang Lixin

Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Wang Lixin has stated that the Maldives-China relationship shows that the relations between the two countries can be strengthened despite the small size difference between the two countries. 

Speaking at a ceremony held at Dharubaaruge this evening to mark the 50th anniversary of the Maldives-China relations and the 73rd anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the Chinese Ambassador said that the Maldives and China have carried out a number of outstanding programs in the recent past.

The Ambassador noted that despite differences of opinion on some of the issues faced in the last few years, both sides have shown mutual respect and the relationship has reached a good level. The Ambassador noted that the Assad administration also respects the principles of the One China Policy.

Ambassador Wang Lixin stated that over four million people has used the bridge and Chinese companies has built more than 11,000 housing units in the Maldives. 

She further explained that China is already working to provide a prosperous future for the Maldivian people. 

In recent years, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, China-Maldives relations have maintained a good momentum of steady development. Both sides have understood and supported each other on issues concerning our respective core interests and major concerns.

China has generously helped the Maldives economic and social growth during the 50 years the two nations have had diplomatic ties. China has recently made significant contributions to the Maldivian infrastructural and economic development initiatives.
