President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih stated that the Maldives' economy will accelerate with the arrival of Chinese tourists.

President Solih made the remarks while speaking at a ceremony held at Dharubaaruge to mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and China, and the 73rd anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

Since the covid-19 pandemic, Chinese tourists have not arrived in the Maldives. However, talks are currently underway to re-operate flights with China to the Maldives.

President Solih stated that this is the time when the Maldives is standing on its own feet after the COVID-19 pandemic.

"As the number of tourists visiting the maldives continues to increase, with the number of tourists coming from China, the country's economic growth will accelerate further,"

Said President Solih
