Saudi Development Fund assures assistance for Maldives Fisheries Industry

Meeting between Fisheries Minister and Deputy CEO of Saudi Development Fund

The Maldivian fishing industry is set to receive crucial financial assistance from the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) to bolster its economic prospects.

The commitment was solidified during a meeting between Maldives Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Resources, Ahmed Shiyam, and Faisal Al-Qahtani, Deputy CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD.)

Minister Shiyam, during his visit to Saudi Arabia, engaged in discussions with the Saudi Fund to explore avenues for the advancement of the fishing industry in the Maldives.

Minister Ahmed Shiyam is currently in Saudi Arabia to attend the opening ceremony of the Saudi International Marine Exhibition in Riyadh, upon the invitation extended by Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, Abdulrahman Abdulmohsen.

The exhibition stands as the biggest marine exhibition in Saudi Arabia.

The meeting proved to be mutually beneficial, with assurances from the Saudi Fund for ongoing support to Maldives.

Minister Shiyam emphasized the exhibition's role in providing numerous opportunities for the progress of the Maldives fisheries industry.
