33 percent of electricity will be converted to renewable energy: President

A renewable energy system will meet 33 percent of the country’s electricity consumption, said president Dr.Mohamed Muizzu.

He said this, while speaking at the COP28 Summit in Dubai.

The President said his government aims to establish a renewable energy system that will supply 33 percent of the country's electricity within the next five years. The President said that at present, the availability of renewable energy is only four percent.

Therefore, an additional $600 million needs to be raised to achieve his goal over the next five years, he said.

"We only have this to happen, with your help" The President said during his speech at COP28.

COP28 will be held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 30 November  to 12 December. The conference will be attended by 70,000 people including heads of state, international leaders from various industries, representatives of private businesses, academics, experts from various fields, youth and associations.
