Will ensure MDP leaders are unable to enter foreign countries: Nasheed
Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)’s former leader and current speaker of the parliament Mohamed Nasheed says he will ensure the party’s leaders are unable to travel to foreign countries.
He made the threat against MDP leaders in response to a message by MDP’s parliamentary group leader Mohamed Aslam on the Parliament’s WhatsApp group.
“Aslam, I will have MDP members ousted from all these positions. And I will ensure they are unable to enter foreign countries,” said Nasheed.
He added that losing the election will be “small compared to what’s coming.”
Addu Meedhoo MP Rozaina Adam shared a screenshot of Nasheed’s messages on X, during a post she made to congratulate Jeehan on being elected as the chair of Inter-Parliamentary Union’s Committee on Democracy and Human Rights.
in this tweet Rozaina wrote that it's such a shame that parliamentary speaker decided to threaten her on the occasion while they have only 4 female MPs in the parliament and despite it being such a huge honor for them.
