As the responsible opposition, we must allow Dr Muiz's rule: Shahid
Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has stated that we must allow Dr Muiz to rule as a responsible opposition party.
Speaking during last night's national meeting to decide on the resolution to hold a general vote to change the system of governance, Shahid stated that the first thing to do is to see whether MDP is always a responsible party when it comes to parliament.
We are not an antagonistic party. We are not like that. We are a responsible party
Said Shahid
He further stated that the people have voted and have elected an opposition candidate to power. He further explained we should not hold an election before he could sit on the seat of power and this couldn't be considered responsible opposition.
"As our opposition party, as a responsible opposition party, he should be given that opportunity," he said.
Shahid said that the people have decided the course of action and they should respect the decision.
