Miuvaan Mohamed, spokesperson of the president's office, has stated that the sale of Afcons Infrastructure Ltd. would not impact any projects being carried out in Maldives.

During the press conference at the president's office today, Miuvaan stated that Afcons Infrastructure Ltd. has not made any contact with the government regarding the selling of the company, and that none of the Maldivian projects would be affected regardless.

While highlighting that the shares of Afcons being traded by its parent company would not affect any of its projects, Miuvaan stated that the agreements made between the Maldivian government and the company will remain unchanged, and that the infrastructure projects in Maldives by them will be carried on.

In addition, Miuvaan announced that some political members, groups or parties may attempt to show that the trade of Afcons is negatively affecting the projects in Maldives.

The Indian company Afcons Infrastructure Ltd. is in charge of some major Maldivian projects including Thilamale' bridge, Addu City road development and land reclamation.

According to Indian news sources, SP, one of the biggest companies of India, has decided to sell assets worth over 2 billion dollars.

India's Afcons Infrastructure Ltd. and Gopalpur Port are some of these assets that are being sold.
