MDP Primary: President Solih leading in the polls
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih leads in the ongoing MDP's Presidential Primary.
President Solih has gained a sizable win lead with 28% over the second candidate Speaker of Parliament Nasheed.
Voting in the party's primary was held between 9 am till 5 pm on Saturday.
According to the recent result, President Solih lending in the polls with 15,267 (64%) votes, while Solih's rival Nasheed gained 8,482 (34%) votes during the primary election.
Several scuffles occurred near several ballot boxes with Nasheed's supporters in GDh. Gadhdhdoo also refused to cast their ballots into the ballot box kept at the polling station. Reports of violence erupting at several polling stations were also reported.
This has been the most highly anticipated Presidential Primary in MDP's history with President Solih and President Nasheed going toe-to-toe with each other.
