Maldive Gas has announced that a new shipment of cooking gas has arrived in the Maldives, bringing an end to the recent supply shortage.

The shortage emerged amid escalating conflict involving the United States and Israel with Iran, which disrupted global energy supply chains and affected the availability of oil and gas.

During the disruption, Maldive Gas introduced temporary measures to manage limited supplies, including suspending the sale of 10-kilogram cylinders.

Customers were instead provided with refills of up to five kilograms, even when presenting larger cylinders, as part of efforts to ensure broader access to available stock.

The company stated that these controls were implemented to maintain continuity of service and prevent supply gaps for consumers during the period of uncertainty.

With the arrival of the latest shipment, Maldive Gas confirmed that supply conditions have stabilised and that the sale of 10-kilogram gas cylinders has now resumed.

Authorities say the restoration of normal distribution is expected to ease pressure on households and businesses that were affected by the temporary shortage.
