Maldives has recorded 10 new cases of measles in the Greater Malé area over the past week, bringing the total number of confirmed cases reported this year to 226.

According to the latest update released by the Health Protection Agency (HPA), the new infections were identified in the Malé region during the previous week.

Health authorities have continued their vaccination efforts in response to the outbreak, with a total of 15,552 people vaccinated so far.

The HPA has urged members of the public to seek medical attention promptly if they develop symptoms associated with measles, including fever and a red rash.

Individuals visiting healthcare facilities with suspected symptoms are advised to wear masks and avoid using public transportation.

Those suspected of having measles are also advised to remain in isolation until their test results are confirmed.

People experiencing symptoms have been encouraged to stay home and avoid public gatherings to reduce the risk of further transmission.

The HPA has also urged the public to rely on official sources for verified information and updates on the measles situation as health authorities continue monitoring the spread of the disease.
