Two arrested in Thinadhoo for protesting in line with President Solih's arrival

Maldives Police Service (MPS) has arrested two individuals for protesting in Gaafu Dhaalhu Thinadhoo as incumbent President Ibrahim Mohamed was set to arrive on the island. 

Even after the arrival of President Solih to the island today, supporters of the opposition PPM and PNC were protesting near the port. Previously, protestors had gathered near the MDP campaign office on the island 

The protestors had demanded to overturn the verdict against opposition political leader and opposition presidential candidate former president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. 

Numerous police officers have been stationed nearby to maintain the demonstration. During these protests, two people have also been taken into police custody. 

President Ibrahim arrived in Thinadhoo today and was received by only 46 people from the island.
