China opposes forced status change in Gaza, endorses Arab-led peace plan – Chinese FM Wang Yi
China has reaffirmed its firm opposition to any forceful attempts to alter Gaza’s status, warning that such actions would lead to further chaos rather than peace.
Speaking at a press conference during the Third Session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC), Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi declared China’s full support for a peace plan proposed by Egypt and other Arab nations.
Gaza belongs to the Palestinian people. It is an inseparable part of the Palestinian territory. Changing its status by forceful means will not bring about peace, but only new chaos,
Wang Yi stated
He emphasized that international efforts should focus on achieving a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire, increasing humanitarian aid, and contributing to the reconstruction of Gaza.
China’s support for Gaza aligns with its broader foreign policy of upholding justice and rejecting unilateralism.
The will of the people must not be defied, and the principle of justice must not be abandoned
Wang Yi stressed
urging the global community to respect Palestinian sovereignty and uphold international norms.
The Chinese Foreign Minister also underscored the responsibility of major global powers in resolving the crisis.
If some major country truly cares about the people in Gaza, it should promote comprehensive and lasting ceasefire, ramp up humanitarian assistance, observe the principle of Palestinians governing Palestine, and contribute to the reconstruction in Gaza,
he remarked.
China’s support for the Arab-led initiative is part of its broader diplomatic efforts to strengthen international cooperation and maintain global stability.
As a key advocate for the Global South, China has consistently opposed hegemonic practices and power politics.
Wang Yi reiterated that China remains committed to defending international fairness and justice, stating that "history should move forward, not backward," and cautioning against policies that prioritize power over principles.
China has also deepened its engagement with the Arab world through diplomatic platforms such as the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum.
Highlighting the importance of these partnerships, Wang Yi reaffirmed that China will continue working with Global South nations to advance development and promote a more equitable international order.
As tensions persist, China remains vocal in calling for diplomatic solutions that respect the rights of all nations. Reaffirming China’s long-standing commitment to peace, Wang Yi stated, "A real winner is the one that keeps in mind the interests of all," adding that China will persist in its efforts to foster global cooperation and mutual development.
