More than 600 cases of Hand, Foot and Mouth cases reported

(HPA) has revealed that hand, foot and mouth diseases are spreading rapidly at various atolls.

Hand, foot and mouth are seasonal diseases that spread rapidly in children. It is caused by a virus and sometimes it can be transmitted to adults.  

The authorities advised locals to spot signs and take preventative action due to the disease's potential for spreading. Authorities stated to local media that the number of hands, foot and mouth cases was higher compared to the last three years. 

A total of 764 cases have been recorded thus far. Officials have stated that 630 cases were reported in the atolls alone. Apart from Male' Region, the highest number of cases have been reported so far this year:

- A. Atoll

- United Nations. Atoll

- Addu

Since July, the prevalence of prevalent ailments has dramatically increased throughout the nation. Asthma, Diarrhoea, and Dengue are a few of these.
