The Maldives government has engaged in significant discussions with India regarding ongoing and planned free aid projects yesterday.

These discussions focused on reviewing the status and progress of the Indian grant-funded high-impact community development projects (HICDP).

The review meeting was co-chaired by HE Ahmed Naseer, Ambassador-at-large at the Maldivian Foreign Ministry, and Munu Mahawar, the Indian High Commissioner to the Maldives.

This high-level meeting underscored the collaborative efforts between the two nations in fostering community development and infrastructure enhancement in the Maldives.

During the previous presidency of Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, India initiated a total of 65 community development projects in the Maldives.

These projects, which amount to a substantial MVR 360 million, aim to enhance various sectors including education, healthcare, and public infrastructure.

In the previous administration, 18 projects were completed, showcasing the tangible benefits of the bilateral cooperation.

Following the discussions, a dedicated committee has been formed to ensure the organized and efficient execution of the aid projects.

The ongoing support from India, reflected in these development projects, is a testament to the strong and enduring partnership between the two countries.
