The Maldives is poised to reach a key tourism milestone as the one millionth tourist for the year 2025 is expected to arrive on Friday, according to Minister of Tourism Thoriq Ibrahim.
He made the announcement during an interview with state broadcaster PSM on Friday.
As per the latest figures released by the Ministry of Tourism, a total of 979,958 tourists had visited the country as of June 3.
With an average of 6,363 daily arrivals, the Maldives is on track to surpass the one million mark by the end of this week.
The figures represent an 8.4% increase in arrivals compared to the same period last year. In 2024, 903,773 tourists had visited the country by early June, up from 821,248 during the same period in 2023.
