In the wake of recent leadership changes at the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), the Maldives Privatization & Corporatization Board (PCB) announced today that Deputy Managing Director Mohamed Bassam Adam will temporarily assume the role of Managing Director.

This appointment follows the recent dismissal of Fathmath Thaufeeq from the position of Managing Director yesterday.

Thaufeeq's dismissal, came amidst reported disagreements with the MMPRC board of directors over company expenses for planned activities.

In addition, Chairperson Aisha Nurain Janah resigned from her post just a day before Thaufeeq's dismissal, and Rafil Mohamed, the Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI) representative on the MMPRC board, had resigned the previous month.

The PCB's decision to appoint Mohamed Bassam Adam as the Acting Managing Director is intended to provide stability and continuity within MMPRC during this transitional period.

Bassam, who has been serving as the Deputy Managing Director since last year December, is expected to lead the organization temporarily.

The MMPRC is facing significant challenges following these leadership changes however PCB has not yet announced the timeline for appointing a permanent Managing Director.
