FM Zameer's visit improves India-Maldives relations: Jaishankar
India's Minister of External Affairs, Dr. S. Jaishankar, announced on Friday that development projects with the Maldives are progressing well, despite previous political turbulence and bilateral relationship with the Maldives has improved following the recent visit of Maldives' Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer to New Delhi.
He made these remarks during the CII Annual Business Summit in India while discussing India's relations with its neighbors.

Minister Moosa Zameer's visit to India on May 9 marked the first senior official visit under the current Maldivian administration.
During his visit, Zameer held official talks with Dr. Jaishankar, where they discussed various aspects of their partnership and explored opportunities for future collaboration in priority areas.
The talks highlighted the fruitful economic partnership between the two countries, noting significant progress in projects supported by Indian grant assistance and line of credit initiatives.
Discussions also covered development cooperation, tourism initiatives, and human resource development, underscoring a relationship built on mutual trust, shared interests, and values.
Both ministers emphasized the importance of exploring new avenues to enhance the Maldives-India partnership.
Minister Zameer expressed gratitude for India's unwavering support in advancing economic, trade, and investment ties, and acknowledged India's role in the socioeconomic development of the Maldives.
India recently renewed a quota for the Maldives to import essential goods for one year, marking a significant increase compared to the previous year.
The statement from Dr. Jaishankar came amidst a significant development in Maldives-India relations: in line with President Muizzu's pledge, all Indian military officials stationed in the Maldives were sent back on May 9.
