In a press conference held today by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Defence, and MNDF, Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer emphasized the close ties between Maldives and India, stating that India holds a significant position as one of Maldives' closest allies.

Minister Zameer remarked during the conference
Highlighting historical instances of cooperation, Minister Zameer further stated that this is the second time Indian military personnel have been withdrawn from Maldives upon request and that he is sure India will continue to support Maldives in the future as well.

Minister Zameer also offered insights into the warm reception he experienced during his recent official bilateral visit to India. During this visit, he engaged in discussions with Dr. S. Jaishankar, the Minister of External Affairs of India, aiming to strengthen cooperation between the two nations.
The visit included engagements at the High Commission of Maldives in India, interactions with the Maldivian community in New Delhi, and discussions with Indian media to reinforce the strong partnership between Maldives and India.

The visit coincides with the withdrawal of all Indian military officials from Maldives.
