In response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the Maldives Zakat fund is set to provide food donations, announced Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed.

The initiative, under the guidance of President Dr. Muizzu, aims to offer assistance to the besieged region.

However, specific details regarding the aid delivery were not disclosed during the minister's announcement on X.

The move comes as Maldives continues to denounce the genocidal acts of Israel in Gaza.

The relentless attacks by Israel on Gaza since October 7 last year have resulted in the loss of 32,782 lives, with a majority being women and children.

Additionally, Israel's blockade on humanitarian aid has exacerbated the situation, leading to severe starvation in the region.
