Defence Minister hails inaugration of MNDF Air Corps as milestone in military advancement

Maldives Defense Minister Ghassan Maumoon lauded the establishment of the MNDF Air Corps and the introduction of the unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) as a significant leap forward in the nation's military capabilities.

Addressing attendees at the inauguration ceremony held at Maafaru International Airport, Minister Ghassan emphasized the transformative impact of this milestone on the country's defense landscape.

In his remarks, Minister Ghassan underscored the evolving nature of global warfare, citing the shift from conventional conflicts to more complex threats that challenge the sovereignty of smaller nations.

He reiterated Maldives' steadfast commitment to defending its sovereignty and independence against any form of encroachment.

Describing the UAV as a state-of-the-art technology platform deployed by leading nations worldwide, Minister Ghassan highlighted its versatility in conducting surveillance, search and rescue missions, and defensive operations to safeguard national interests.

This is a sophisticated technology platform used in developed countries in the world. While primarily geared towards surveillance and search and rescue operations, this sophisticated platform also possesses the capability to execute defensive maneuvers, ensuring the safeguarding of our nation's independence.

Furthermore, Minister Ghassan emphasized the holistic role of defense in Maldives, extending beyond conventional military functions to encompass disaster response and civilian protection during emergencies.

He commended President Muizzu for his tireless efforts in fortifying the defense sector and fostering the self-reliance of the armed forces since assuming office.

Minister Ghassan expressed his optimism that the inception of the MNDF Air Corps would not only bolster the nation's defensive prowess but also cultivate a profound sense of national pride and unity, particularly among the Maldivian youth.

He credited President Muizzu's visionary leadership for instilling confidence in citizens and fostering a culture of valor among Maldivian soldiers.
