Luwaiz to be appointed as ambassador to Singapore and Dr. Salma to Geneva mission
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has submitted two nominations for parliamentary approval.
Mohamed Luwaiz has been nominated as the Maldives Ambassador to Singapore, while Dr. Salma Rasheed has been nominated as the Permanent Representative of the Maldives Mission in Geneva.
This was announced in the parliament meeting by speaker of parliament Mohamed Aslam today.
Mohamed Luwaiz, previously held the position of Minister of State for Economic Relations at the President's Office during the administration of former President Abdulla Yameen.
Additionally, he served as a Board Member of the Bank of Maldives during the same period.
In the transitional period following the presidential election last year, Luwaiz contributed to the Budget Committee formed by President Dr. Muizzu and actively participated in campaign activities leading up to President Dr. Muizzu's election.
Dr. Salma Rasheed, is the aunt of former MP and current ruling party candidate for Maafannu Central constituency Asma Rasheed and has familial ties to another appointee, Mohamed Hussain Shareef (Mundhu), who serves as the Ambassador to the UAE.
Both Luwaiz and Dr. Salma's nominations are now under review by the Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee.
