The centerpiece of the President's announcement was the initiation of the First Maldives Eco-city – Ras-Male’.

This landmark project, kickstarted in December of the preceding year, aims to address pressing housing challenges while revolutionizing the country's urban landscape.

The President highlighted the significance of Ras-Male’ as a model city, emphasizing its commitment to a zero-carbon safe island concept, aligned with international standards.

During his speech, the President underscored the importance of inclusive accessibility, environmentally conscious design, and the prioritization of community health in the Ras-Male’ project.

Encompassing over 1,100 hectares of reclaimed land, it represents the largest and most extensive land reclamation initiative in the history of the Maldives.

The elevated land, designed to withstand climate change impacts, sets new benchmarks for urban sustainability.
