China agreed to oppose any foreign influence in Maldives

China says it will reject any foreign influence in Maldives internal affairs.

This was announced in a joint press communication issued by the President’s Office on the agreements reached between the two sides during President Muizzu’s current visit to China at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

China also agreed support Maldives sovereignty, independence and national dignity.

In this joint press communication, Maldives acknowledged the "One-China" policy, recognizes that the Chinese government is the only legitimate government representing the whole of China and that Taiwan is an inalienable part of Chinese territory.

Maldives has also agreed to oppose all activities undermining China's sovereignty and territorial integrity in the name of "Taiwan's independence" and not to establish any kind of formal relations with Taiwan.

In this joint press communication, Maldives also agreed not to allow any foreign influence in China’s internal affairs, just as China agreed to oppose any foreign influence in Maldives internal affairs, and to support all Chinese efforts to achieve its national unity.
