Tweet circulating saying I insulted India is fake: Fathimath
Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) Managing Director Fathimath Thaufeeg has said that the tweet circulating saying she insulted India is fake.
A screen shot of Fathimath, who allegedly made an anti-India post, has been released amid tensions between the two countries over the insults made by three Maldivian deputy ministers to India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Managing Director of the MMPRC, who is responsible for promoting tourism in Maldives is being criticized regarding this fake tweet.
In response, she told "Voice" that it was a fake screenshot.
"This is fake and not true. I have not made any such comments. These sensationalized accusations are made to defame me. " Said Fathimath.
Fathimath also said she would stand by the government's stand on the issue of insulting Prime Minister Narendra Modi by the deputy ministers.
She said that she would maintain a good relationship with all the countries in promoting and developing tourism in Maldives.
In addition, she said that India has a huge tourism market and will have the highest number of tourists visiting Maldives in 2023.
The government has suspended the deputy ministers involved in the insult to India. They also said that this is not the government's view.
