Hotel Asia Maldives has grown from a small exhibition launched in 2000 into one of the Maldives’ established platforms connecting the hospitality, resort-supply and culinary industries.

The event began in 2000 with around 40 participating companies.

At the time, the Maldives’ tourism and resort industry relied heavily on overseas suppliers, with an estimated 80 percent of goods needed by hotels and resorts being sourced through exhibitions held outside the country.

Hotel Asia was established to bring suppliers, hotel operators and industry professionals together in the Maldives, giving businesses easier access to products, services and new solutions for the hospitality sector.

The exhibition was initially held every biennially, as the tourism industry expanded and demand from local businesses, suppliers and international brands increased, Hotel Asia grew into an annual event in 2008.

Over the years, the exhibition has helped strengthen connections between international suppliers and businesses operating across the Maldivian hospitality sector.

Resorts, hotels, guesthouses, liveaboards, restaurants and catering companies have used the event to explore new equipment, food and beverage products, kitchen technologies, guest amenities and operational services.

According to Hotel Asia, the growth of local access to suppliers has helped reduce the industry's reliance on overseas sourcing from about 80 percent in its early years to around 20 percent today.

The development of Hotel Asia has also mirrored the expansion of the Maldives as a global tourism destination.

From its initial participation of about 40 companies, the event has developed into an annual gathering for suppliers, resort operators, buyers, chefs, hospitality executives and other industry stakeholders.

The event now serves as a platform for commercial partnerships, professional development and the introduction of new products and technologies across the hotel, resort, restaurant, catering and tourism sectors.

Organized by Maldives Exhibition & Conference Services Pvt Ltd, the 20th edition of Hotel Asia Maldives will be held from September 28 to 30, 2026, at the Synthetic Track in Hulhumalé.

The International Culinary Challenge will take place from September 27 to 30, with activities scheduled at the Maldives National University in Malé and the Synthetic Track in Hulhumalé.
