Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to visit the Maldives on an official trip later this month, following his planned participation in the BRICS Summit in New Delhi.

Prime Minister Anwar is expected to arrive in the Maldives on September 14 and remain in the country for two days.

The visit would mark his first official visit to the Maldives as Malaysia's prime minister.

Anwar is scheduled to travel to India for the 18th BRICS Summit, which is set to take place in New Delhi on September 12 and 13.

Following the conclusion of the summit, the Malaysian leader is expected to travel to the Maldives for the official visit.

The Maldivian government has not yet issued an official statement confirming the visit or released details regarding Prime Minister Anwar's itinerary, meetings, or planned engagements.

The anticipated trip follows President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's official visit to Malaysia in April 2025, which was undertaken at the invitation of Prime Minister Anwar.

During that visit, the two countries focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and exploring opportunities for expanded partnerships.
