President reaffirms strong Maldives-UK ties, Commends UK's development support

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has congratulated Andrew Burnham, MP, on assuming office as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, while reaffirming the Maldives' commitment to strengthening its longstanding partnership with the UK.

In a congratulatory message sent on behalf of the Government and people of the Maldives, President Dr. Muizzu extended his best wishes to Prime Minister Burnham for a successful tenure and expressed confidence in further enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

The President emphasized that the Maldives places great importance on its historic relationship with the United Kingdom, describing it as a partnership built on mutual respect, shared democratic values, the promotion of human rights, and strong people-to-people ties that have developed over many years.

President Dr. Muizzu also acknowledged the United Kingdom's significant contribution to the Maldives' socio-economic development, noting that British support has played an important role in the country's progress across a range of sectors.

He expressed appreciation for the UK's longstanding friendship and continued engagement with the Maldives.
