Maldivian and Etihad signs new loyalty partnership
Maldivian, the national airline of the Maldives, has entered into a new loyalty partnership with Etihad Guest, the rewards program of UAE-based Etihad Airways.
The agreement will allow Etihad Guest members to redeem their miles for flights across Maldivian’s domestic network.
Once the program becomes available, travelers arriving in Malé will be able to use their accumulated miles to continue their journeys to islands and atolls across the country.
The partnership is expected to make travel beyond the capital more convenient for international visitors and provide Etihad Guest members with greater flexibility when planning trips to the Maldives.
The agreement was signed during the Arabian Travel Market and builds on an existing interline partnership between the two airlines, established in 2024.
Under that arrangement, passengers traveling on a single ticket can connect from Malé to 17 airports across the Maldives.
The new loyalty agreement will extend access to the same domestic network to members redeeming miles, creating an additional option for travelers seeking onward connections after arriving in Malé.
For Maldivian, the partnership strengthens the national carrier’s links with a major international airline and supports wider efforts to improve connectivity between Malé and the country’s outer islands.
Maldivian operates the largest domestic network in the Maldives.
The agreement also aligns with the Maldives’ position as a leading leisure destination, known for its private island resorts, overwater villas, coral reefs, and marine biodiversity.
The airlines are expected to announce further details regarding the launch and redemption process in due course.
