BML appoints a new CEO

Bank of Maldives (BML) has appointed Mr Karl Stumke, a South African National as its new Chief Operating Officer(CEO).

Mr Karl Stumke brings over 36 years of experience leading Retail and Corporate banks at the Executive and Board level in the Middle East, Africa, the Indian Ocean and the United Kingdom. He has previously served as the CEO of Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait in the United Arab Emirates. 

Mr Karl Sumke initially joined the bank in 2010, serving in the role of International General Manager until becoming CEO of the bank's UAE office in 2017.

Before working for Al Ahli Bank, Stumke held the positions of Regional Manager for Mauritius at Barclays Bank and Corporate Director at Bahrain's Bank Muscat International. 

Mr Karl Stumke holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting Science from the University of South Africa, is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (South Africa), and has completed executive programs in France, Switzerland, and South Africa.
