MMA opens applications for overseas higher education scholarships

Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has opened applications for a range of higher education scholarship opportunities, offering Maldivian students the chance to pursue undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral studies at universities in Malaysia.

According to the central bank, the scholarship program covers tuition fees, mandatory university charges and other related educational expenses, providing comprehensive financial support for successful applicants.

The available programs include a Bachelor of Accounting degree at Selangor Islamic University (UIS), as well as postgraduate opportunities at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), including a Master of Laws (LLM) and a Master of Economics.

The scholarship scheme also offers doctoral research opportunities at INCEIF University in Malaysia.

Available PhD programs include Islamic Finance through coursework and dissertation, Islamic Finance by research, and Applied Communications in Economics and Finance.

The MMA stated that the initiative aims to support the development of highly skilled professionals in fields that are important to the country's economic and financial sectors.

Interested applicants are required to submit their applications before the closing date of 30 June.
