Blood donation vital for public health: President Dr. Muizzu
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed the government's commitment to promoting voluntary blood donation, marking World Blood Donor Day by recognising the vital role donors play in saving lives across the Maldives.
In a message shared on social media, the President highlighted the importance of voluntary blood donors in supporting patients who require emergency treatment as well as those living with long-term medical conditions.
He noted that donated blood remains a critical resource for healthcare services despite advances in modern medicine.
The President stressed that a reliable supply of blood is essential for protecting public health, strengthening healthcare services, and improving the country's preparedness for medical emergencies.
He also pointed to the unique challenges faced by the Maldives as a geographically dispersed island nation, where timely access to blood can be crucial during emergencies.
According to the President, encouraging a culture of voluntary donation and community support remains important to ensuring the well-being of the population.
