Police honor fallen Officer Ahmed Asif with promotion
Maldives Police Service has posthumously promoted police officer Ahmed Asif in recognition of his dedication and service following his death during a maritime operation.
Asif, who was serving as a Senior Sergeant, has been promoted to the rank of Sub-Inspector of police.

According to police, Asif was part of a team conducting an operation at sea during the early hours of Thursday when he went missing from Police Launch 57.
Search and rescue efforts were launched immediately after his disappearance was discovered.
He was later found underwater and transported to the AA. Mathiveri Health Centre, where medical personnel confirmed that he had already passed away.
In announcing the promotion, police described Asif's death as a significant loss to both the institution and the nation, acknowledging his years of dedicated service and contributions to law enforcement.
The police service also extended condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and loved ones, while honoring his commitment to protecting the community and safeguarding public security.
