A tourist who was snorkeling near K. Thulusdhoo has  passed away due to an injury inflicted by a passing launch.

Speaking to voice the Thulusdhoo council president Aslam informed of the following.

The deceased was a male foreigner who was staying in one of the guest houses in the island. However, the age and country of residence was still unclear.

There were about 4 companions snorkeling with him and the area they were snorkeling in was a sea channel where boats constantly travelled.

Due to being hit by the boat his arm was severed from his body and he was already lifeless by the time they pulled him from the sea.

The deceased had travelled to Maldives with his wife and family who are currently in a sensitive state.

In addition to this a Police media official, who spoke to voice regarding this incident, stated that they received a report around 11:10 am, saying that a dinghy had hit a tourist who was snorkeling in that area.

They also added that the deceased was a 52-year-old male from Poland and that the hospital informed he had passed before he was brought there.

On top of that Police are investigating any other necessary details about the incident.
