Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has said that the long-standing cooperation between the Maldives and India continues to bring benefits to the people of both countries.

The Vice President made the remarks in a message shared on social media while extending his greetings and best wishes to Indian Vice President Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, the Government of India, and the Indian people on the occasion of India’s 77th Republic Day.

In his message, Vice President Latheef highlighted India’s constitutional journey as a republic, noting that it offers many inspirational lessons for other nations.

He emphasised that the Maldives and India share a long history of working closely together on matters of mutual concern, a partnership that has strengthened bilateral relations over the years.

Expressing optimism for the future, the Vice President said he hopes the current level of cooperation between the two countries will continue to grow and deepen further.

India became a republic on January 26, 1950.
